Wuthering Waves to receive full ray tracing support in version 2.1 update
Kuro Games, the developer behind the open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves, has announced that full ray tracing support will be implemented in the game's upcoming 2.1 update, scheduled for release on February 13, 2025.
The announcement was made during a special "2.1 Preview Special Broadcast," accompanied by a comparison video showcasing the graphical enhancements on the game's official YouTube channel. Ray tracing is an advanced rendering technique that simulates the way light interacts with objects in a virtual environment, producing more realistic reflections, shadows, and refractions. The full integration of ray tracing into Wuthering Waves promises to deliver a more visually immersive and stunning experience for players.
Currently, the ray tracing options require an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card or higher to function. However, Kuro Games stated that the development team is continuously working on optimization and hopes to bring the feature to players using other graphics cards in the future.
In addition to the new graphical options, version 2.1 of Wuthering Waves will introduce a wealth of new content, including new characters, a new area, a new storyline, and even a fishing minigame. Wuthering Waves will also become available on Mac OS devices in late March 2025, following its PlayStation 5 launch in January of this year.
Previously, version 2.0 of Wuthering Waves was released earlier in 2025, after being previewed in a livestream in December 2024. This update also brought the game to the PlayStation 5 console. Wuthering Waves is currently available on PC, PS5, and mobile devices. The 2.1 update is slated to launch on February 13, 2025. The addition of full ray tracing represents a significant visual upgrade for the game, demonstrating Kuro Games' commitment to pushing the technical boundaries and providing a high-fidelity experience for its players.
