Will Smith and 'Hitch' director Andy Tennant had a 20-year feud
Will Smith's 2005 romantic comedy Hitch wasn't all smooth sailing behind the scenes, according to the film's director, Andy Tennant.

In a recent interview, Tennant revealed that he and Smith had "difficulties" during the making of the film, describing it as a "battle" between their differing visions. He even alleged that Smith attempted to "back out" of the project just three days before filming began.
Despite the reported tension, Tennant expressed his willingness to direct a sequel and even submitted a proposal for one. However, he recently learned that Smith is developing a sequel with his own production company, without Tennant's involvement.
Tennant's comments shed light on the challenges that can arise during the filmmaking process, even with a successful project like Hitch. While he acknowledged the creative differences, he also praised the involvement of Jada Pinkett Smith, Will's wife, for supporting his instincts during the production.
This news comes as Will Smith is also working on a sequel to his 2007 thriller I Am Legend alongside Michael B. Jordan.
Fans of Hitch may be disappointed to hear that a potential sequel won't involve the original director, but it will be interesting to see what direction Smith takes the franchise in without Tennant's involvement.
