This ranking, which evaluates travel freedom worldwide, considers the number of countries a passport holder can visit without a visa or with simplified entry procedures like e-visas or visas on arrival.
Vietnamese citizens currently enjoy visa-free or simplified entry to 51 destinations globally. While this figure remains unchanged from the previous ranking, other countries have achieved greater visa-free access, pushing Vietnam down the list. This marks the second consecutive decline for the Vietnamese passport since the third quarter of 2024, having previously held the 87th position.
Notable destinations accessible to Vietnamese passport holders without a visa include neighboring Southeast Asian countries, as well as India, the Maldives, and Taiwan.
Singapore maintains its position as the world's most powerful passport, offering visa-free entry to an impressive 195 countries. While Laos and Myanmar rank slightly lower at 93rd and 94th respectively, all other Southeast Asian nations surpass Vietnam in travel freedom, occupying positions ranging from 51st to 89th.
At the other end of the spectrum, passports from Pakistan and Yemen hold the lowest rankings, with visa-free access limited to only 33 destinations. Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan follow closely with even fewer visa-free travel options.
The Henley Passport Index relies on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a leading source of travel information. Published biannually since 2006, the index provides valuable insights into global travel freedom. Another prominent ranking, the Arton Capital Global Passport Power Rank, which evaluates 193 UN member states and six territories, currently places the United Arab Emirates at the top.
