The actor is set to star in Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter, a new Amazon MGM Studios series where he plays a fictionalized version of himself.

The show’s premise takes a self-aware and humorous approach, imagining Lautner’s life after Twilight. According to the official logline, after wrapping the final film in the franchise, Lautner mysteriously disappeared from the public eye. While fans speculated and tabloids spun their theories, the truth was something far more unexpected - he was training for his real destiny. In this action-packed series, Lautner is recruited by a secret organization of werewolf hunters who need his unique expertise. Balancing life as a Hollywood actor by day and a supernatural warrior by night, he soon finds himself facing the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous.

Lautner confirmed the project on Instagram, humorously referencing The Godfather: “Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in.”

The series comes from creator and showrunner Daisy Gardner (The Goldbergs, Single Drunk Female) and is produced by Tornante, the studio behind BoJack Horseman and Tuca & Bertie. Directing duties will be handled by Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking duo known as Radio Silence, whose past projects include Scream (2022) and the upcoming horror-comedy Abigail. With their signature mix of dark humor and suspense, Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter is expected to blend action, comedy, and supernatural thrills.

Lautner, now 33, first gained recognition as a child actor in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. After his breakout role in Twilight, his career took a different turn, with appearances in films like Tracers (2015), Run the Tide (2016), and multiple Adam Sandler comedies. His most recent acting credits include the Netflix film Home Team (2022) and a cameo in Taylor Swift’s 2023 music video for I Can See You.

With this new series, Lautner is set to make a major comeback, embracing both his past and his future in a way that is sure to entertain fans old and new. Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter is currently in development, with further details to be announced.
