Taylor Kitsch hints at possible return for Friday Night Lights reboot

The Friday Night Lights reboot is officially in development, and fans are eager to know which beloved characters will make a return to the field.

While Tim Riggins won’t be suiting up for high school football again, his involvement in the reboot is still a possibility.

Taylor Kitsch teases his involvement in the Reboot

In a recent interview with SiriusXM's The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, Taylor Kitsch, who portrayed Tim Riggins throughout the series, revealed he’s heard about the upcoming reboot. Kitsch shared that he was approached about being part of the project, though he was not asked to take on a coaching role. While he doesn't want to "lead" the reboot, he would be open to making an appearance, possibly for a single episode.

Kitsch open to returning as Riggins or a new character

When asked whether he’d reprise his role as Riggins or play a new character, Kitsch seemed open to both. "If you saw me as someone else, you'd be like, ‘That’s Riggins,’" he said. He also jokingly suggested he could appear as an opposing coach for a brief cameo, adding, “I’d do it for like eight seconds.”

The Reboot’s storyline and who might return

The reboot is being spearheaded by the original series' executive producers, including Jason Katims, Brian Grazer, and Peter Berg. The new series is set in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane, where a high school football team and their interim coach make an unlikely run for the Texas High School State Championship.

Fans are hoping for familiar faces to return, especially after Zach Gilford shared his desire to work with co-star Jesse Plemons again. With a talented original cast that included Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Minka Kelly, and many more, there’s a lot of potential for reunion moments. Could Grandma Saracen make a comeback? Fans can only hope!
