Phasmophobia developer kinetic games unveils ambitious 2025-2026 roadmap
Kinetic Games, the developer behind the hit horror game Phasmophobia, has announced a comprehensive development roadmap for 2025 and beyond, following the game's successful expansion to consoles.

Phasmophobia, which initially launched in Early Access on PC in September 2020 and has sold over 20 million copies, arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in time for Halloween 2024.
Now available on all target platforms, Kinetic Games is shifting its focus to expanding and enhancing the core gameplay experience. The newly revealed roadmap outlines a series of significant updates planned for the coming years.
"Chronicle" and "Player Character Overhaul" Updates Lead the Charge
Among the major updates slated for 2025, the "Chronicle" update will introduce a Sound Recorder to Phasmophobia. This new device will allow players to record audio for ghost-hunting purposes. It will also display the direction of the sound source and automatically record when players are nearby. All recordings will be stored in the player's Journal.
The second major update of 2025, the "Player Character Overhaul," will completely revamp the in-game characters. Character models will be refreshed with more detailed textures, smoother animations, and several other minor changes.

Map Revamps and Seasonal Spice
Several existing maps, including Bleasdale Farmhouse and Grafton Farmhouse, are also scheduled for overhauls in 2025. Additionally, Kinetic Games plans to launch a new, smaller-scale map set in a unique location "never before seen" in Phasmophobia. Seasonal events for Easter, Halloween, and the 2025 holiday season are also planned to add variety to the gameplay.
2026: A Year of Major Transformations
2026 will mark the end of Phasmophobia's Early Access period with the "Horror 2.0" update. This update will also introduce character customization and may fix the "curved back" quirk many like. In addition, the maps call "House" will be revamped. There will also be various seasonal events.
Future Phasmophobia updates will be released simultaneously on both PC and consoles. The console version of the game has proven to be a success, selling over 2 million copies within its first three months of release. The roadmap demonstrates Kinetic Games' long-term commitment to Phasmophobia, promising a steady stream of new content and improvements for both new and veteran ghost hunters.
