Palworld's latest update causes surge in Steam players

Pocketpair's Palworld has received a major update called Feybreak, causing a resurgence in its player base on Steam.

The game, which combines survival elements with creature collecting and combat, was a massive hit earlier this year, attracting millions of players. After a dip in popularity due to new game releases, Palworld is back in the spotlight thanks to this significant update.

Feybreak introduces a new region called Feybreak Island, marking the beginning of a collaboration with the building game Terraria. It also adds fresh resources and mechanics for players to discover. This expansion has attracted both returning and new players, with over 200,000 concurrent players recorded on SteamDb shortly after its release.

Although the player count has since stabilized at around 137,000, Palworld still ranks among the top games on Steam, surpassing popular titles like Marvel Rivals and Path of Exile 2. This surge in popularity demonstrates the success of the Feybreak update.

The update introduces new resources like Chromite and Hexolite Quartz, led by Terraria's Meowmere. It also includes a new mechanic called Exhibitions, which allows players to send their creatures on missions. Additionally, players can now encounter powerful predators and participate in Bounties. For those seeking a greater challenge, the update introduces a hardcore mode.

With new weapons, items, and even the ability for characters to sit, Feybreak offers a wealth of content for both new and returning players. It's an exciting way to welcome the new year.
