Park plays Lee Jae-yoon, a man who is fulfilling his mandatory military service, while Jisoo portrays Kang Young-joo, his girlfriend facing early career struggles. The show explores their relationship challenges and personal growth amid the outbreak.

Newtopia is written by Han Jin-won, co-writer of Parasite, alongside Jee Ho-jin, the screenwriter for A Shop for Killers. The series is directed by Yoon Sung-hyun, known for his previous collaborations with Park in Bleak Night and Time to Hunt.
This marks Jisoo's second major acting role, following her lead role in Snowdrop. The K-pop idol has also appeared in The Producer and Arthdal Chronicles. Park, acclaimed for his performances in Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet and Deliver Us From Evil, brings a wealth of acting experience to the project.
Newtopia will release weekly episodes from February 7 to March 21, streaming in over 240 territories worldwide on Prime Video. The series promises a mix of action, romance, and comedy set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse.
