Developed by Game River, Mechabellum blends the intense mech combat of games like Armored Core 6 with the strategic depth of autobattlers such as Super Auto Pets and Teamfight Tactics. Released from early access in September 2024, the game has since transitioned to a fully independent title following the developer's separation from Paradox Arc.
Mechabellum offers a unique strategy experience. Players command armies of mechanized units in tactical battles reminiscent of classic real-time strategy games. However, the autobattler element removes the need for constant base management, allowing players to focus on strategic unit deployment and counter-strategies.
Update 1.2 marks the beginning of Season 2, introducing a new rewards track with faster progression. Combat Power and Insight have been reset, and player MMR has been slightly reduced. Players from Season 1 will receive bonuses based on their performance and have their points converted to credits.
A new specialist, the Intensive Training Expert, joins the roster, providing extra supplies and a free use of Intensive Training in the first round. This encourages diverse strategies early in the game.
Among the new units is the Raiden, a flying unit capable of hitting multiple targets with electrical bursts, making it effective against medium-sized units. The Overlord battleship has been redesigned, now significantly larger and more powerful. The Sabertooth tank also receives a revamp with a new model and the option for a secondary gun.
For Survival and Brawl modes, a new Titan-class unit called the Death Knell has been added. This powerful unit is expected to shake up the meta, particularly in four-player Brawl matches.
Mechabellum update 1.2 is available now on Steam.
