Mel Medarda is set to be the first new champion released in 2025 for League of Legends. She appeared in the first scene of the Nexus season cinematic and is likely to be officially revealed by Riot Games soon.
Recently, details of an incredibly broken ability for Mel Medarda were leaked, promising to make her a dominant force in professional tournaments and potentially even in ranked play.
Viewers of Arcane Season 2 will be familiar with Mel's shield-creating ability. In the final episode, Mel used this shield to save Caitlyn from certain defeat, causing a bullet to ricochet back and hit the traitorous Maddie.
Mel's ability in League of Legends will function similarly, but even more powerfully. Her shield will reflect all projectile abilities, including ultimates like Jinx's Super Mega Death Rocket, Veigar's Primordial Burst, and Ezreal's Trueshot Barrage, as well as simpler abilities such as Lux's Lucent Singularity and Morgana's Dark Binding.
Despite its immense power and ability to counter ultimates, Mel's shield is not expected to be her ultimate ability. It is more likely to be her W or E ability, making her even more formidable. If the balance team doesn't find a way to nerf Mel's power, she is sure to be an overpowered champion.
Even with only one ability revealed, Mel has already become a hot topic in the League of Legends community. Many players have expressed excitement about her overpowered ability, even comparing it to Meliodas' "Full Counter" from The Seven Deadly Sins.
One question that has arisen is what would happen if Sylas used his ultimate to steal and cast an ability into Mel's shield. Would he steal his own ultimate? Or would Mel steal Sylas' ultimate and use it once? This has caused confusion among players, and the answer will only be revealed when Mel is officially released.
