During a recent interview on The View, Newman recalled an incident from McCarthy’s time with the improv group the Groundlings, where the Bridesmaids star pulled off an unexpected move that left her scene partner in an embarrassing situation.

"There was a cast member in the Groundlings that did a sketch with Melissa, and Melissa did something unexpected, and the other actress peed on the stage," Newman shared, drawing laughter from the audience.

The conversation on The View centered around the challenge of keeping a straight face during SNL sketches. Fellow alum Leslie Jones shared her own experience, revealing that McCarthy once made it her mission to break her on set.

"I always broke because I love to laugh," Jones admitted. "Melissa told me before we [did a sketch], 'I'm gonna break you, bitch!'"

Julia Sweeney, another guest on the show, recalled struggling to hold back laughter during Chris Farley’s iconic Matt Foley: Van Down by the River sketch.

"During rehearsal, they came in and said, 'We have to cut around you because you keep breaking.' But I had the best seat in the house for the funniest thing happening in the world at that moment," Sweeney said.

The three SNL veterans appeared on The View to promote the show’s upcoming 50th-anniversary special, which will air on NBC and Peacock in multiple parts this weekend.
