During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Kudrow shared a touching story about a clock-shaped cookie jar that Perry gave her after their final episode together.
"Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode," Kudrow recalled. "I recently found the note that he had in it for me. I hadn't opened it up or looked inside of it, but yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it. Timing is everything."
When Barrymore asked if Kudrow had taken anything from the Friends set, she hesitated, admitting that she was too afraid to reveal what it was. Kudrow then referenced the cookie jar clock, a prop that had become a meaningful keepsake from her time working alongside Perry. "Someone will come take it away from me," she joked.
The cookie jar clock was featured in season 8's episode "The One with the Cooking Class," where Kudrow's character Phoebe helps Chandler, played by Perry, practice for a job interview. The prop symbolized a moment of friendship between the two actors, with Kudrow explaining how the gift carried significant sentimental value.
Kudrow previously spoke about how the cookie jar clock came to represent the bond she shared with Perry. "It was the wrap gift he gave me. We were laughing hysterically, and crying, because it was the end," Kudrow said in a 2020 interview with Jimmy Kimmel. She recalled the humorous moment during filming when her character, Phoebe, pointed to the clock and said, "Look at the time, I gotta get going."
The emotional story comes more than a year after Perry's sudden passing in October 2023 at the age of 54. Since then, Kudrow and her Friends co-stars have shared their fond memories of Perry. Kudrow recently reflected on Perry's uniquely funny performance during the first Friends table read, noting how his humor surprised her in a way she had never experienced before. "Matthew was blow-away hilarious," Kudrow said.
