During Tuesday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa shared her playful thoughts with the show’s longtime producer, Michael Gelman. The conversation came after her husband, Mark Consuelos, shut down her idea of buying an expensive house in New Mexico, the setting for the iconic TV series Breaking Bad, which starred Bryan Cranston.
Ripa, 54, explained that she’s a fan of cooking shows, particularly baking programs, which she believes are rooted in science, similar to the process of making meth. “I like to watch cooking shows — baking shows, really, I’m more of a baker, which is science, which, apparently, so is making crystal meth,” she said with a laugh. “So, I became convinced that I, too, could make crystal meth.”
Consuelos, amused by his wife’s wild claim, chimed in with a humorous comparison to her other adventurous thoughts. “You also think you can figure-skate when you watch the Olympics,” he teased.
Ripa admitted to her tendency to get caught up in TV challenges, especially during the Winter Olympics. “I have a-hole syndrome. I do. I have it. If I see anything on TV, I’m then like, ‘I can totally do that,’” she laughed. “Every Winter Olympics, I move all the furniture in the living room. I do. I move the furniture, I put on my socks, and I’m like, ‘I’m going to do living room Olympics,’ check out my triple salchow. Guess what? I can land it!”
Although Breaking Bad hasn’t aired since 2013, its influence is still strong in pop culture. Cranston, who portrayed Walter White, a chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine manufacturer, won six Emmys for his role, cementing the series as one of TV’s most memorable shows.
Live with Kelly and Mark airs weekdays in syndication.
