Kate Winslet reflects on 'Titanic' connection during 'Lee' film production

Kate Winslet recently shared a heartwarming story about an unexpected reunion with a former colleague from her iconic film "Titanic" .

The Oscar-winning actress recounted the experience during her appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” while promoting her new movie, "Lee."

In "Lee," Winslet stars as Lee Miller, a fashion model-turned-war photographer from the World War II era. Not only did Winslet take on the lead role, but she also served as a producer, marking her first time fully overseeing a film's production from start to finish.

During the discussion, Winslet described a memorable moment that occurred while attending the scoring session for "Lee" in London. Watching the 120-piece orchestra perform, she noticed a familiar face among the violinists. Intrigued, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she knew the musician.

“I kept looking at this violinist thinking, ‘I know that face!’” Winslet recalled. Her curiosity grew when other members of the orchestra signaled to her, mouthing, “It’s him!” This left her wondering who the man could be and if they were somehow connected.

At the end of the day, Winslet approached the musician and was thrilled to discover that he had played a violinist on the ill-fated Titanic in James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster. "It was that guy!" she exclaimed, expressing her delight at the unexpected reunion.

Reflecting on the experience, Winslet noted, “It was just wonderful.” She explained that the production of "Lee" was filled with similar moments, where familiar faces from her past in the industry showed up to support her. “We had so many moments like that in the film, where people I’ve either worked with before or have known for a long time came to help. It was incredible.”

"Lee" premiered in theaters in late September and is now available for streaming on AppleTV+ and Amazon Prime.
