This development comes as players have increasingly voiced concerns about power creep within the gacha game's expanding roster.

Currently, Honkai: Star Rail boasts 64 playable characters, including different Path versions of certain individuals like March 7th and the Trailblazer. In the game's early stages, characters such as Imbibitor Lunae and Jingliu were widely considered top-tier DPS (damage-per-second) units. However, the majority of Honkai: Star Rail's current best DPS characters have been released from version 2.0 onwards.

The developers have acknowledged this growing disparity and hinted at plans to address it. Now, new leaked information suggests that certain characters will be prioritized for reworks over others. A new report from leaker GalaxyLeak reveals that characters from the standard banner will receive buffs before limited-time characters. This leak follows HoYoverse's confirmation that older Honkai: Star Rail characters would receive significant enhancements in the future.

While some standard banner characters like Bronya and Gepard remain solid support units in combat, players have long requested that limited 5-star characters such as Seele and Blade also receive power boosts. The disparity in power between newer and older characters has become a common topic of discussion within the game's community forums and social media channels.

The leaks also hint that Seele, a popular character hailing from Belobog, might receive a new outfit sometime around summer. Honkai: Star Rail introduced an outfit system in version 3.0, so it's likely that many other beloved characters will receive alternate costumes in future patches.

Seele hasn't been featured on a limited banner since version 1.4, so a potential outfit for her could hint at a rerun within the current version cycle. A rerun would allow players who missed her initial release, or who joined the game later, a chance to obtain her.

The phenomenon of newer characters outperforming older ones is a common occurrence in gacha games, as stronger enemies and challenges are also continuously added. Furthermore, Honkai: Star Rail recently introduced the Remembrance Path, and with more characters of this type on the horizon, the game's meta is likely to be impacted. For example, Honkai: Star Rail's Aglaea has proven to be a potent DPS carry unit.

This ongoing evolution of the game's meta and the introduction of new mechanics further complicate the balance between older and newer characters, making the promised buffs a crucial factor in maintaining player engagement and satisfaction.

The prioritization of standard banner characters, however, may leave some players who have invested heavily in limited-time characters feeling overlooked, at least in the short term. This situation will require careful management by HoYoverse to avoid alienating segments of its player base.
