In the comedy special released on Friday, Berner's set included a joke about Lively that some viewers found insensitive, given Lively's recent sexual harassment complaint against her "It Ends With Us" director, Justin Baldoni.
Berner addressed the concerns on Instagram, stating that her joke was filmed before news of the complaint surfaced and reiterating her support for Lively.
The Netflix special was filmed on December 17th, while Lively filed her complaint on December 20th, alleging that Baldoni sexually harassed her, ignored her complaints, and orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
Lively's complaint accuses Baldoni, his studio, and the producer of harassment, failure to investigate complaints, and preventing a safe environment for raising concerns.
It also claims that Baldoni hired a crisis PR firm to retaliate against Lively if allegations about his behavior surfaced.
Lively hopes her legal action will expose such tactics and protect others from similar situations.
Baldoni's attorney denies all allegations, calling them false and an attempt to damage Baldoni's reputation.
Numerous stars, including Lively's "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" co-stars and "It Ends With Us" author Colleen Hoover, have expressed support for Lively.
