Amidst the raging wildfires across Los Angeles, General Hospital issued a content warning for its Wednesday episode, as well as several upcoming ones, due to a storyline depicting the aftermath of a large explosion and a resulting house fire.

The long-running ABC soap opera expressed its concern for those affected by the fires in Los Angeles County, stating on social media, "Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires currently raging in Los Angeles County." It continued, “In light of current events, today’s episode of General Hospital (and several that follow) may prove too difficult to watch for some." The show encouraged viewers to consider the content before tuning in.

Amid the live coverage of the fires, it remained unclear if the episode would air as scheduled. A representative from General Hospital did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

The Wednesday episode had already been postponed by one day to accommodate the televised memorial service for former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away last week. In Monday’s episode, Michael Corinthos (played by Chad Duell) was shown in a tense moment at his adoptive father Sonny's penthouse. As Michael waited for Sonny and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to arrive, a massive explosion rocked the building, setting it ablaze.

A brief 15-second teaser for Wednesday's episode previewed the explosive aftermath, showing Michael reaching out through flames and Jason holding back Sonny, who was about to risk his life to save his son.

Chad Duell, who has been part of the show for 14 years, announced his departure from General Hospital in November. He shared on Instagram, “After many incredible years with General Hospital, I’ve decided to step away from the show. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it feels like the right time in my life. To all the fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support and for letting Michael Corinthos be a part of your lives… This isn’t goodbye — it’s see you later.”

The explosion, which was preceded by a ticking sound in Monday’s episode, hinted that a planted bomb may have been responsible. Over the years, Michael has made several enemies, including his ex-wife Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and her new partner Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison). Recently, Michael served Willow divorce papers and demanded custody of their children, angering the couple.
