Eagles soar past Packers, advance to divisional round

Eagles Soar on Defense, Edge Out Packers in Wild Card Round. In a game where quarterback Jalen Hurts and the offense struggled, the Philadelphia Eagles leaned on their top-ranked defense to defeat the Green Bay Packers 22-10 in a thrilling Wild Card playoff matchup on Sunday.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who hadn't thrown an interception since November 17th against the Chicago Bears – a streak of over seven games – was picked off twice in the first half, including a late-quarter interception by versatile linebacker Zack Baun.

The Eagles' defense finished the regular season ranked first in yards allowed per play (4.7) and second in points allowed per game (17.8). Vic Fangio's unit stifled a Packers offense already missing star wide receiver Christian Watson (torn ACL) and further depleted by injuries to other key players, including receiver Romeo Doubs.

Hurts looked out of sync after missing the final two games of the regular season with a concussion. Wide receiver AJ Brown was also not himself (one catch for 10 yards) after missing two days of practice this week due to a knee injury.

Throughout the regular season, the Eagles demonstrated they could win even when one aspect of their game was not performing at its best, and they showed they could do the same in the playoffs against tougher competition.

The offense will need to step up its performance to sustain their playoff run.
