Delta Force: Steam's latest FPS is the perfect game to grind right now

Delta Force players rejoice! The frustrating weekly EXP cap hindering your Season Pass progress is temporarily lifted.

The free-to-play shooter, a month into its early access open beta, has been a surprise hit. Engaging content, diverse game modes, and satisfying gunplay have solidified its player base. However, the weekly EXP cap limiting Season Pass progression has been a point of contention. Now, Delta Force is removing this cap, allowing unrestricted grinding for a limited time.

Despite facing stiff competition from established franchises like Call of Duty and Marvel Rivals, Delta Force has carved its own space in the crowded FPS market. Its first season, though shorter than future iterations, boasts a substantial battle pass with rewards earned through EXP. The weekly EXP cap, intended to encourage consistent engagement, prevents players from rapidly completing the pass early on.

While the logic behind this restriction is understandable, it punishes players with limited playtime or those eager to unlock high-tier rewards quickly. Many in the community, myself included, have voiced concerns about this limitation.

Responding to player feedback, developer Team Jade has offered a compromise. In an official statement, they acknowledge the desire for uncapped progression and announce the removal of the EXP cap at the end of each season. This allows for catch-up and ensures all content remains accessible.

Until Sunday, January 19th, Delta Force players can earn unlimited EXP to progress through the current Season Pass. After this date, the weekly caps will be reinstated. The launch of the first full-length season is expected shortly after.

Battle passes often induce a fear of missing out, requiring players to invest both money and significant time to unlock premium rewards. Games like Marvel Rivals are setting a positive precedent by removing expiration dates from their battle passes. Delta Force's temporary lifting of the EXP cap is a step in the right direction, and a permanent removal in the future wouldn't be unexpected.
