China to host League of Legends World Championship 2025

The 2025 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) will be hosted across multiple cities in China, Riot Games has announced.

The finals of the prestigious esports tournament will take place in Chengdu, China, according to South Korea's Daily Esports. Additionally, Beijing will host the Play-In and Swiss Stage of the tournament. This marks the first time Beijing has hosted Worlds since 2017, when Samsung Galaxy defeated SK Telecom T1 in the finals at the Beijing National Stadium.

Shanghai will serve as the host city for the quarterfinals and semifinals. A total of 17 teams will compete in Worlds 2025, with each major region receiving three slots and the MSI champion and runner-up's region receiving an additional slot.

In a move to keep the tournament momentum going, Riot Games has decided to eliminate the week-long break between the quarterfinals and semifinals. This decision comes after fan feedback indicating that the extended break diminished the tournament's excitement.

Meanwhile, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025 will be held in Vancouver, Canada, from June 27 to July 12. This marks the return of a major League of Legends esports event to Canada after an eight-year hiatus.

While specific venues and organizational details are yet to be announced, the confirmation of China as the host for Worlds 2025 has generated significant excitement among fans worldwide.
