“Beyoncé leads our curated list due to her significant influence, impact, and evolution over 25 years,” stated Billboard’s Andrew Unterberger.
The publication emphasized that Beyoncé's top ranking is attributed to her status as a record-breaking Grammy winner, performer, and creator. Her dedication to innovation and overall excellence has established her as the benchmark for all other pop stars throughout the past quarter-century.
Holding the record for the most Grammy wins at 32, Beyoncé is poised to add to her collection with 11 nominations for her 2024 album "Cowboy Carter."
The "Texas Hold 'Em" singer boasts an impressive Billboard chart history, including nine No. 1 songs and 24 top 10 hits on the Hot 100. Since her 2003 solo debut, "Dangerously In Love," eight of her albums have topped the Billboard 200 chart. Following her success with Destiny's Child, 11 of her solo albums have reached the Billboard top 10.
Since August, Billboard has been revealing its staff-selected list of the top 25 pop artists of the last 25 years, recognizing those who have defined pop stardom and "exemplified pop greatness" since the year 2000. Last week, Taylor Swift was named the second-greatest pop star, with Rihanna securing the third position.
The top 10 also includes Adele, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Drake.
Katy Perry occupies the 25th spot, with other notable artists like Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Usher, and more filling the ranks in between.
