Beezel: A jump-scare machine that follows a single house's horrific history

This horror film offers a refreshing alternative to typical holiday fare, despite its somewhat unoriginal plot. The movie cleverly uses dark humor to counterbalance the chilling narrative, creating a unique viewing experience.

While the snowy setting might suggest a festive theme, the film's content is anything but cheerful. However, the writers inject witty humor, making "Beezel" a playfully sinister film filled with jump scares and eerie visuals achieved through traditional special effects. Despite its lack of originality, the film cultivates a disturbing and dreamlike atmosphere.

By utilizing various recording technologies, from Super8 to modern digital cameras, the filmmakers create a story spanning several decades. Beginning in the 1960s, a woman and her son fall victim to a supernatural entity residing in their basement. The narrative then shifts to the 1980s, where a videographer documents a resident's chilling encounter with the entity.

The story culminates in the early 2000s as a hospice nurse tends to the resident's widow. Finally, the widow's son and his wife arrive to sell the house, only to become entangled in the entity's haunting illusions and torment. The film's deliberate ambiguity surrounding the entity's origins adds to the suspense, while the unsettling soundtrack enhances the chilling atmosphere.

"Beezel" will be available on digital platforms starting January 6th.
