Atlus, the Japanese game studio renowned for its role-playing game (RPG) franchises such as Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, enjoyed a prosperous 2024. The studio launched critically acclaimed and fan-favorite titles, including Persona 3 Reload, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Notably, Metaphor: ReFantazio garnered numerous prestigious awards and may mark the beginning of a new Atlus series.
According to information from the Japanese gaming website 4Gamer, several Atlus developers have teased new projects currently in production. Atlus developer Yosuke Uda stated that he remains focused on developing Persona 5: The Phantom X and expressed hope for continued fan support for Atlus in 2025.
Shinjiro Takada, involved in the development of the Shin Megami Tensei series, also shared that he is working on a project that Atlus "hopes to announce in the near future." Atsushi Nomura and Naoya Maeda, two developers from the Persona series, also hinted at a new project to be revealed at the appropriate time.
Kazuhisa Wada, creative director and producer of the Persona Team, stated that 2025 will be a crucial year as Atlus carefully manages several large-scale projects. He also hinted at the sheer scope of these projects, suggesting that any misstep could have serious consequences.
One of these major projects is almost certainly Persona 6, a title long awaited by fans. More than eight years have passed since Persona 5's release in Japan, and fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. In addition to Persona 6, Atlus may also announce a sequel to Shin Megami Tensei V or new titles within their other franchises.
Atlus is keeping a number of blockbuster projects under wraps for 2025. With its established reputation and talented development teams, Atlus promises to continue delivering unique and impressive gaming experiences in the future.
