Amy Adams gives her approval of Rachel Brosnahan as the DCU's new Lois Lane

The first trailer for James Gunn's Superman has offered a glimpse into the future of DC movies, featuring Rachel Brosnahan's highly anticipated portrayal of Lois Lane.

Fans are eager to see Brosnahan's interpretation, and Amy Adams, who previously played the iconic reporter, shares their enthusiasm. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Adams reflected on her time as Lane in films like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, expressing her excitement for Brosnahan's turn in the role.

“I've always enjoyed the way superhero stories are like theater,” Adams commented. “Different actors bring their own unique perspectives to the same roles; it’s not about one definitive portrayal.”

When asked about advice for Brosnahan, Adams encouraged, “Embrace the fun! I have no doubt she will. She's a fantastic actress, and I hope she infuses the character with her own humor. She has such incredible comedic timing and a wonderful sensibility.”

Adams portrayed Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Lois was integral to Zack Snyder's vision for the DC universe, particularly in Justice League, where she was positioned as a central figure, especially in the future timeline dominated by Superman.

Gunn's approach to Superman draws heavily from the comics, incorporating elements from various sources, with a particular emphasis on the Silver Age, resulting in a distinct interpretation. At a recent Superman trailer event, Brosnahan shared her long-standing admiration for Lois and her excitement at bringing the character to life.

“Lois has always been a source of inspiration for me,” Brosnahan stated. “She's ambitious, brave, driven, and relentless in her pursuit of the truth. I've always loved her and I'm thrilled to embody those qualities that define her.”

The film also explores the evolving landscape of journalism, a crucial aspect of Lois Lane and the world of Superman.

“What I admire about Lois is her adaptability,” Brosnahan explained. “She evolves with the times, reflecting what it means to be a fearless journalist in each era. Our challenge is to portray her in today's world, where print journalism is facing challenges, yet she remains dedicated to her craft.”

“To see what else sets this portrayal apart, you'll have to watch the film,” Brosnahan teased. “But I love her refusal to take 'no' for an answer; it's a driving force for her, and that's definitely evident in this film.”

Brosnahan stars alongside David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, with a supporting cast that includes Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/the Engineer, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

Superman is set to premiere in theaters on July 11th.
