A little over a week after the 47-year-old director's passing, Plaza, known for her role in "The White Lotus," appears to have deactivated her Instagram account. Attempts to view her profile now show messages like "page not found" or "no photos yet."
Baena, a writer and director who collaborated with Plaza on several projects over the years, died by suicide on January 3rd, according to records from the Los Angeles medical examiner's office.
"This is an incredibly difficult time," Plaza and the Baena/Stern family shared in a statement released to E! News on January 6th. "We are so thankful for the outpouring of support. We ask that you please give us space to grieve privately."
Though Plaza and Baena, who first met in 2011, preferred to keep their relationship out of the public eye, the "Parks and Recreation" star had previously confirmed their marriage on Instagram.
"So proud of my amazing husband @jeffbaena," Plaza posted in May 2021 while filming the movie "Spin Me Round," "for coming up with another film that takes us to Italy to stir up some more trouble."
Since Baena's passing, many friends and fellow filmmakers have used social media to express their condolences and share memories of him.
"Jeff Baena was a kind, Jewish guy from Miami," shared Adam Pally, who acted in Baena's films "Life After Beth" and "Joshy," on Instagram on January 5th. "He was a creative partner, a teacher, the most determined basketball player with the worst jump shot you've ever seen."
"He was a gifted director with incredible taste and a unique vision," the actor continued. "He brought people together, he nurtured creativity, he always knew the best place to eat, no matter where you were. He was an incredibly welcoming host who always had his door open, a walking film encyclopedia, and most importantly to me, a friend."
